Today a man comes to the school. He has a camera. The children are happy. They are not studying today.
Teacher Meena is standing in front of the class. Ravi and Munna are behind her. Sita is between Ravi and Munna.
Gudiya is near the door. She is not ready.
“Gudiya! You are not in the photo,” says Ravi.
Gudiya runs. Now she is standing near Sita. The two girls are in the middle of the row.
A big neem tree is behind the children. A bird is above the tree.
Sheru is under the bench. He is sleeping.
“Sheru is not in the photo,” says Munna. Sita laughs.
The man is ready. The children are quiet. Click!
Now the photo is on the wall. It is above the blackboard. The names are below the photo.
Every day the children look at the photo. Sita is happy. She is between her two friends.
पिछले पाठ में चार शब्द थे। आज छह और आ गए — near, behind, in front of, between, above, below। डरो मत — इनमें से चार जोड़ियों में आते हैं, और जोड़ी याद रखना आसान होता है।

पिछले पाठ के चार शब्द एक बार दोहरा लो — ख़ासकर एक बात, जो आज बहुत काम आएगी।

याद है — on का मतलब सिर्फ़ ऊपर नहीं, छूते हुए ऊपर था। आज तुम्हें एक और शब्द मिलेगा जो ऊपर तो है, पर छूता नहीं। यही आज की सबसे काम की बात है।

ये दोनों एक-दूसरे के उलट हैं। एक याद कर लो, दूसरा अपने आप याद रहेगा।

in front of पूरे तीन शब्द हैं — तीनों चाहिए। न सिर्फ़ front of, न सिर्फ़ in front। पर behind अकेला एक ही शब्द है — उसके साथ of नहीं आता।
दूसरी जोड़ी — बिना छुए ऊपर और नीचेABOVE ↔ BELOW
यह जोड़ी on और under जैसी लगती है, पर एक बड़ा फ़र्क़ है — छूना।
वही फ़र्क़ नीचे वालों में भी है — under (नीचे, अक्सर ढका हुआ) और below (नीचे, छुए बिना)।

आसान तरीक़ा: अगर दोनों चीज़ें एक-दूसरे को छू रही हैं → on या under। अगर बीच में जगह है → above या below।

near आसान है — पास, पर छूते हुए नहीं। गुड़िया दरवाज़े के पास खड़ी थी, दरवाज़े पर नहीं।

रोचक जानकारी — हिंदी में एक शब्द, अंग्रेज़ी में दो
हिंदी में ऊपर एक ही शब्द है। चाहे चीज़ छू रही हो या न छू रही हो — ऊपर ही कहेंगे। अंग्रेज़ी इसे दो हिस्सों में बाँट देती है:
दोनों हिंदी वाक्य एक जैसे हैं, पर अंग्रेज़ी अलग-अलग शब्द माँगती है — क्योंकि उसे यह जानना है कि चीज़ छू रही है या नहीं। वही बात नीचे के साथ भी: under और below।
इसीलिए अनुवाद करते समय हिंदी शब्द से मत चलो — तस्वीर से चलो। मन में देखो कि चीज़ कहाँ है, फिर शब्द चुनो।
