A Rainy Morning
Today it is raining. The sky is grey and the road is wet.
Ravi looks out of the window. “I do not (don't) like rain,” he says.
Yesterday he played in the field. Today he did not (didn't) go.
The field is full of water.
Sita is not (isn't) playing outside. She is sitting near the door.
An hour ago she was reading. Now she is not reading — she is watching the rain.
Munna is looking for his ball. “Where is my ball?” he asks.
“It is not in the box. It is not under the bed.”
Gudiya does not (doesn't) know. She did not see it.
Teacher Meena comes in with an umbrella.
“Do not (Don't) be sad,” she says.
“The rain will stop. Tomorrow you will play again.”
Munna smiles. “Tomorrow we will not (won't) stay inside,” he says.
“We will run in the field!”

हिंदी में ‘नहीं’ कहना बहुत आसान है। बस नहीं लगा दो — और वाक्य में कुछ भी नहीं बदलता।

ध्यान दो — अंग्रेज़ी में कहीं से एक नया शब्द do आ गया। वह पहले वाक्य में था ही नहीं। ऐसा क्यों?
क्योंकि अंग्रेज़ी में not अकेला खड़ा नहीं हो सकता — उसे हमेशा एक सहारा चाहिए। उस सहारे को helping verb कहते हैं। कभी do, कभी did, कभी is, कभी will।
अगर वाक्य में पहले से कोई helping verb है, तो not उसी के साथ बैठ जाता है। अगर नहीं है — तो do को बुलाना पड़ता है। बस इतनी-सी बात है। आज का पूरा पाठ इसी एक बात पर टिका है।

तो आज हम यही देखेंगे। हर समय में not किसके साथ बैठता है — पहले, अभी, आगे। तीनों में, एक-एक कदम।
STEP 1
सीधा और नहीं वाला — साथ-साथPOSITIVE AND NEGATIVE
बायीं तरफ़ सीधा वाक्य, दायीं तरफ़ ‘नहीं’ वाला। ध्यान से देखो कि हर बार not किसके साथ जुड़ा।

देखा? जहाँ वाक्य में पहले से am, is, are, was, were, will था — not बस उसी के पीछे लग गया, और कुछ नहीं बदला। पर I go और He goes में कोई helper था ही नहीं, इसलिए do और does को बुलाना पड़ा।

ऊपर एक बात अजीब लगी होगी। I went का negative I did not went नहीं बना — I did not go बना। went कहाँ चला गया? यह आज की सबसे बारीक बात है। धीरे से पढ़ो।
रुको और सोचो — समय एक ही बार
| I went. | यहाँ ‘पहले’ की बात खुद verb के अंदर है — go बदलकर went हो गया। |
| I did not go. | यहाँ ‘पहले’ की बात did ने ले ली — इसलिए verb वापस सादा go हो गया। |
समझे? went कहीं गया नहीं — उसका काम did ने ले लिया। अब अगर हम did not went कहें, तो ‘पहले’ दो बार बोला जा रहा है — एक बार did में, दूसरी बार went में। समय एक ही बार बताया जाता है।
यह कोई एक बार की बात नहीं है। वही चीज़ दोबारा देखो — हर बार helper काम अपने ऊपर ले लेता है, और असली verb सादा हो जाता है।

एक आसान तरीका। जहाँ do, does या did दिखे — आगे वाला verb हमेशा सादा होगा। बिलकुल शब्दकोश वाला रूप: go, eat, see, play।
अब आख़िरी सवाल — क्या हर helper ऐसा करता है? नहीं। सिर्फ़ वही करते हैं जिन्होंने समय अपने ऊपर लिया हो। पूरी बात एक टेबल में:

ये चार ग़लतियाँ सबसे ज़्यादा होती हैं। पहले ग़लत वाक्य पढ़ो, सोचो कि क्या गड़बड़ है, फिर दबाओ।

हिंदी में सिर्फ़ नहीं काफ़ी है। अंग्रेज़ी में not अकेला खड़ा नहीं हो सकता — उसे helper चाहिए। इसलिए do बुलाना पड़ता है।

past अब did के अंदर आ चुका है, इसलिए असली verb सादा — go, न कि went।

-s पहले ही does में बैठा है, इसलिए आगे सादा go ही आएगा।

is के साथ हमेशा -ing रहता है — negative बनाने पर भी वह नहीं हटता।

अभी तुम पूरे रूप ही लिखो। do not, did not, will not — यही सही है और यही सबसे साफ़ है। पर जब लोग बोलते हैं, तो छोटा कर देते हैं। यह टेबल सिर्फ़ पहचानने के लिए है — अभ्यास में पूरे रूप ही इस्तेमाल करो।

आख़िरी वाला अजीब है ना? will not छोटा होकर willn’t नहीं बनता, बल्कि won’t बनता है। यह अंग्रेज़ी का सबसे अनोखा छोटा रूप है — इसे बस याद करना पड़ता है।

will के बाद हमेशा सादा verb — help।

were के साथ -ing रहता है — running वैसा ही।

We के साथ do not, और verb सादा: eat।

knows का -s अब does के अंदर है — इसलिए सादा know।
